| Description: |
Construction of a regional potable water treatment facility in the MD of Opportunity No.17 (MD) is currently pending approval for construction. The proposed regional water treatment plant (WTP) will utilize conventional water treatment. The purpose of this request for proposals is to determine the most suitable treatment equipment and equipment supplier for this application. At such time, as the project proceeds to the construction stage, equipment would be purchased by the general contractor which is contracted by the MD through a competitive tendering process. The proposed treatment system is to consist of a pre-built conventional water treatment process that utilizes enhanced coagulation and gravity filtration. The proposed treatment system will include a chlorine gas dosing system, as well as a microfiltration system downstream of the conventional treatment unit. The proposed treatment system also includes a ion exchange organics removal system upstream of the conventional pre-treatment system and is not part of this treatment selection process. The chlorine gas system and microfiltration system are not a part of this treatment system selection. The scope of this pre-selection is comprised of the conventional water treatment process as provided in the Terms of Reference document.
